DPDK topic:
- Basic performance test from Intel showed parity in the performance of contrail-dpdk -vs- DPDK 18.05 with the vRouter
- Juniper will have internal discussions if they are going to go with upstream DPDK or keep contrail-dpdk
- CI: We need CI to test DPDK and then we can get more confidence moving with upstream DPDK or not.
- Decision: TF Tech Workgroup votes that we need to move to upstream DPDK
- No DPDK based deployments in TF CI today
- Need DPDK based containers with both contrail-dpdk and upstream dpdk - Substantial effort is need
- In order to run CI the following needs to be done:
- Have DPDK containers
- Need extra infrastructure
- Define a set of test (can be a subset to kernel based deployments)
- AL:
- Background: there are two stages to the current CI
- The testing being done in the second stage is still tied with the Juniper infrastructure and Zuul
- JG: Can we try manually adding a build process using the upstream DPDK on separate infrastructure?
