Minutes

How do we define the shape of the call going forward?

  • Need to propose a method to move forward with community technical objectives.
  • Prabhjot: When we talk about features we should bind it to a release.
    • CC: Would be helpful if we had a specific community release manager.  This would likely be a full time or at least initially.  CC suggests that the community ask their Companies if they are willing to donate that resource.
  • When do we want to do a release?
    • Juniper release cadence has been monthly but has recently been considering a 3 or 4-month release cycle.
    • We should decide what we want in each release.  We can not wait indefinitely until Juniper release.
    • Randy: We can start to build our own release.  Even if they are different features.  Just to gain release independence.
      • Prabhjot: We need to define the projects, features, and timeline.
      • CI is pushing builds to Jenkins for Master
      • May need new builds
      • Infra already has test builds in place.  We need to define a new build.
      • SK suggests that we do a new branch in March.

Projects

  • One of the goals if someone is working on config api changes, they should not affect all of the repos.  They were having trouble separating the controller.  Juniper had hired someone to do this, but he is no longer with the company.
    • Alex also proposed the separation of parts a number of years ago.
